First-Time Homebuyer Education Classes
AAHC provides 8 hours of the National Industry Standard Homeownership Education Classes in group sessions in MD and Northern VA.
Why Do I Need to Take the First Time Homebuyer Education Class?
When you apply for Local/County/State mortgage programs, down payment assistance, or some lenders’ mortgage programs, you are required to complete the first-time homebuyer (or homeownership) education class and/or one-on-one counseling, to obtain a certificate. AAHC is in compliance with their requirements and issues a class completion certificate. To register for the First-Time Homebuyer Education Class, we ask that you follow the instructions below.
How to Register?

Registration: Find the date that the Virginia class is being offered in the Calendar above. Then you can register for this class by clicking on this link to Find a Class Near You (at VHDA.com), scroll down to find the class date listed with “Homebuyer Education-Song Hutchins” and proceed to register online, or give us a call at (703) 291-6324. Additional One-on-One Counseling is optional.

FREE Foreclosure Prevention Assistance and Counseling
AAHC is a HUD-approved Housing Counseling Agency, so if you are facing foreclosure and want the assistance of a Housing Counselor you came to the right place. The first step is to call us to schedule an appointment so we can provide you with the information, resources, and assistance you need to avoid foreclosure.
When you call we will schedule an appointment for you to meet with a Housing Counselor to discuss and assess your situation. Once scheduled, your appointment confirmation will include our Loss Mitigation Counseling Application, which has the checklist of documents to bring to your appointment and the forms that you will need to fill out. You can also download the application by clicking on the “Download” button below.
In addition, to better understand your finances, we must pull your tri-merge credit reports and scores; which is a soft pull and therefore won’t affect your credit scores.

How to Request Counseling: Counseling is done by appointment only in MD and VA, please call (301) 760-7636 / (202) 558-2260 / (703) 291-6324, or email us at email@example.com to schedule.
Fee: We only charge two small third-party fees to you; Tri-merge credit report ($15/person), and all copies, printing, and faxing of documents (one time fee of $20).There are no other hidden fees. Foreclosure prevention counseling services are provided free of charge by nonprofit housing counseling agencies working in partnership with the Federal Government. There is no need to pay a private company for these services.
